Football – IGS Primary Sports League
Our Year 6 football teams have been taking place in the Ilkley Grammar School Primary Sports League football event over the winter – and we have now reached the end of the main league phase. We now head onto the respective finals nights over the next fortnight! Thanks to Mr Megson for coaching this year.
Our boys (8 Y6 and 3 Y5) played superbly throughout the league and finished a magnificent 3rd place against some very strong competition – winning five matches and losing narrowly against the two teams who finished above us. The league table below was after 6 matches but the top 3 remained unchanged after the final fixture. We now head into the Champions League Finals on 1st April for a semi-final against Burley Woodhead.

The girls (10 Y6 and 1 Y5) showed how hard they were to beat in almost every match. Some great performances didn’t quite get the results they deserved, but to only lose 1 match was credit to their teamwork and enthusiasm. Scoring goals was the main problem – hopefully they are being saved for the Europa League Finals on 26th March!
