Cross Country Celebrations!

Last weekend saw the culmination of the Wharfedale Schools’ Cross Country League and many of our KS2 runners were awarded certificates for their results and participation this year.

The season ran over the winter with six different races – each organised by a different local school (including All Saints’). The finale for KS2 runners then took place Nell Bank, with the children forming relay teams to compete in a fun last event around the grounds of the activity centre.

We had 10 relay teams (30 runners) take part this year – well done to all of them! Our highest placings were in the U9 boys race (1st: Leo H, Lucas and Leo N; 2nd: Jack, Oliver and Gabriele), the U9 girls race (2nd: Daisy, Lily and Eilidh; 4th: Anya, Abi and Ruby) and the U11 boys race (2nd: Henry, Alex and Wilf).

Over the whole season, we had an amazing 110 runners take part in at least one race (almost a third of our pupils) – ranging right from Reception through to Y6. Our individual race winners over the season were Hattie (twice!) in Reception girls and Lucy in Y2 girls. In total, we had 37 individual podium finishers and 45 team placings (out of a possible 78). Fantastic effort!

Some of our top KS2 runners now go onto a final Inter-League event at Cliffe Castle this week – well done to all of the following for qualifying.
